Acoustic Emission Caused by Structural Changes in Amorphous Ni-P Alloy
1990
Acoustic emission (hereafter referred to as AE) resulting from the heating of amorphous Ni-P alloy (hereafter referred to as a-Ni-P) prepared by plating was detected. AE is observed at certain temperatures, i.e., at 280°C, 320°C, 360°C and 410°C, when a-Ni-P (Ni: 84.9 wt%, P: 15.1 wt%) is heated. From the results of several experiments, it is confirmed that AE is related to structural changes in a-Ni-P. The method employing AE to observe structural changes in a-Ni-P features highly sensitive detection of the structural changes.
