Structural and magnetic properties of LaFe1−xCrxO3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) powders
2021
Abstract The LaFe1−xCrxO3 (x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.00) powders were synthesized using sol-gel method. The structural properties were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD) which demonstrates the formation of orthorhombic perovskite structure with the space group Pbnm (N° 62). The morphology and microstructure of samples were characterized by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) that indicating the spherical form of grains. Magnetic hysteresis loops revealed a weak ferromagnetic order in these compounds. 57Fe-Mossbauer spectrometry measurements confirm the expected state of iron ion as Fe3+ and the isomer shift δ varies between 0.31 and 0.39 mm.s−1. The average hyperfine field was found to decrease from 535 to 480 kOe with increasing x from 0.25 to 0.75 at 4.2 K. The exchange interactions were determined with Neel temperature.
