Multimedia Service Upstream Transmission Demonstration in Real-Time Based OFDM and FSO

Real-time digital communication and multimedia upstream service transmission based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Free Space Optical Communications (FSO) are experimentally demonstrated in this paper. The implementations of digital domain up-conversion and down-conversion based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) are introduced. A new design of training preamble and a novel timing synchronization algorithm is implemented. An improved calculation scheme for Bit Error Ratio (BER) and Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) is proposed in this paper.
