Atuação do enfermeiro no cuidado de crianças com enteroparasitoses

Objective: To characterize the performance of Family Health Strategy nurses caring to children enteroparasitic diseases in the childhood. Methods: Retrospective study, conducted in a Basic Health Unit in the municipality of Teresina-Piaui, Brazil. Data collection occurred in medical records of children from 0 to 10 years. The data obtained were entered into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and analyzed by descriptive statistics with the aid of IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences Statistics software. Results: We analyzed 100 medical records of children treated from January to November 2014. The sample found that 14% of children underwent treatment against enteroparasitoses, among the parasites were Entamoeba coli, Ascaris lumbricoides, Entamoeba histolytica, Tricura trichuris e Giardia lamblia. They lived in houses with four to six rooms, representing 58% of the total. With the number of residents residing in the house around 2 to 6 people, totaling 73%. Giardiasis was the most registered parasite with 30% among children aged 6 - 8 years. Conclusion: It is concluded that intestinal parasites are caused by the peculiar conditions of basic sanitation, residences with a considerable number of residents and consumption of untreated water. It is the responsibility of nurses to identify suspicious cases, make early diagnoses, prompt and appropriate treatment of cases. Nurses submitted insufficient conduct for treatment.
