A method of treating an article by spraying on at least one surface thereof with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide stabilized exclusively by an organic phosphonic acid. An aqueous solution of high purity hydrogen peroxide of which the dry residue is less than 120 mg / kg and the conductivity is less than 120 MUS / cm, this aqueous solution is stabilized exclusively by an organic phosphonic acid.
