Viscosity: a new method of evaluating damping and period

A new method of measuring the damping restraint and the period of an oscillating viscometer is presented. Both the quantities are deduced from the same set of time interval measurements. The method is fully automated. The results and related accuracy values obtained in a test measure of the viscosity of mercury are reported. The method of treating experimental data and errors is described.
