Bacteriophage Tp4 having propagated for one cycle in Can cells might be further grown in this strain without restriction. The sitespecific restriction endonuclease BtcI isolated from Bacillus thuringiensis var. canadensis recognises the same nucleotide sequence GATC in DNA as recognised by restriction endonuclease Sau3A.
