A Classification Scheme for Therapeutic Recreation Research Grounded in the Rehabilitative Sciences.

Research related to TR services and the leisure experiences of persons with disabilities has direct relevance to the broader research agenda of the rehabilitation sciences. This article presents TR research according to a model used by the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research to guide research on disability, rehabilitation and related quality of life issues for persons with disabilities. It is the contention of this article that disseminating TR research in this manner can stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration and can support the inclusion of TR research into the broad rehabilitative sciences.
