Soft magnetic coating for a perpendicular magnetic recording disk

Cross magnetic recording disk comprising: a substrate (310); a magnetic recording layer (350); and a soft-magnetic coating (315) disposed between the substrate (310) and the magnetic recording layer (350), wherein the soft-magnetic coating (315) comprises: multiple groups of layers, each of said plurality of layers comprises a first ferromagnetic layer (331) and a non-magnetic spacer layer (321), wherein the first ferromagnetic layer (331) adjacent the nonmagnetic spacer layer (321) is disposed in each of layers; and a second ferromagnetic layer (320), wherein one of the non-magnetic spacer layers (321) between one of the first ferromagnetic layers (331) and the second ferromagnetic layer (320) is arranged to effect an anti-ferromagnetic coupling therebetween, characterized, in that each first ferromagnetic layer (331) of a plurality of layers has a thickness that is greater than the thickness of each of the first ferromagnetic layer (331) of the immediately overlying layers group.
