Lower Extremity Venous Ablation and Sclerotherapy

Venous insufficiency of the lower extremities is common and may present with clinical severity ranging from asymptomatic spider veins to painful varicose veins accompanied by edema and tissue loss. Varicose veins occur in up to 23% of men and 39% of women [1]. Surgical ligation (or stripping) of incompetent superficial veins was once the only option for definitive treatment of symptomatic venous insufficiency. Minimally invasive alternatives, such as endovenous thermal ablation, have become popular over the last decade as these techniques offer effective treatment and fast recovery.
