Clinical Efficacy of Concurrent Docetaxel with 3D-CRT for Locally Advanced NSCLC

2012
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy, mechanism and tolerance of concurrent Docetaxel with three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy(3D-CRT) in treating patients with locally advanced NSCLC.Methods Sixty untreated cases who had been pathologically confirmed as squamous cell carcinoma(stage III A-III B),were randomly divided into observation group and control group,30 cases for each. The observation group received 3D-CRT concurrently with weekly Docetaxel(36 mg/m2) for six weeks, after the completion of 3D-CRT,TP regimen was given for 3 cycles. The control group received 4-6 cycles of TP regimen after the completion of 3D-CRT.Results For short-term effect(CR+PR),it was 80% and 66.7% in the observation group and control group respectively. The 1-,2-,and 3-year loco-regional control rates were 90.0%,80.0% and 70.0% respectively in the observation group, and 80.0%,53.0% and 40.0% in the control group. The patients could tolerate the above adverse reactions well after receiving symptomatic treatment. Conclusion It is found that observation group is superior to the controls in short-term effect,2-and 3-year loco-regional control rate and survival rate(P0.05).Therefore,concurrent Docetaxel with 3D-CRT is effective for locally advanced NSCLC and well tolerated, which is worthy of clinical application.
