SUMMARY THE EFFECTS OF TREADMILL EXERCISE TEST ON SERUM ELECTROLYTE LEVELS IN SUBJECTS WITH NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE EXERCISE TEST RESULTS The effects of treadmill exercise test on serum magnesium, potassium and calcium levels were studied on 44 subjects. Study group consisted. 22 subjects with positive exercise test and 22 subjects with negative test. Serum electrolyte levels were studied before and after treadmill exercise tests, and observed arrythmias were noted,, There was no significant changes in serum magnesium* potassium and calcium levels among two measurements in both groups. In test positive group, differences in serum magnesium level before and after the test (Delta Mg++) is significantly higher than in test negative group but differences in serum potassium and calcium levels (Delta K+ and Ca'+ ) were not significant. There was no difference among the electrolyte levels of arrhythmia positive and negative subjects. Finally, we showed that, treadmill exercise test has no effect on plasma electrolyte (Mg++, K+, Ca++) levels and no relation found among serum electrolyte levels and exercise induced arrhythmias. But serum Mg++ level differences in test positive subjects were higher than control subjects within normal limits. OZET Treadmill ekzersiz testinin serum magnezyum (Mg ), potasyum (K+) ve kalsiyum (Ca) duzeylerine etkilerini incelemek amaciyla efor testi pozitif 22 olgu ile, test sonucu negatif 22 olgu olmak uzere toplam 44 olgu calismaya alindi. Efor testi oncesi ve sonrasi ilk 5 dakika icinde serum Mg++, K ve Ca++ duzeyleri calisildi. Test ( + ) ve test (-) olgu gruplarinda test ■ oncesi ve sonrasi elektrolit degerleri karsilastirildiginda, anlamli bir farklilik bulunamadi . Ancak heriki grupta test suresince ortaya cikan Mg^, K+ ve Ca++ degisimleri (=Delta Mg++, Delta KDelta Ca ) incelendiginde hasta grubunda test sonu Mg++ duzeylerindeki artisin (Delta Mg ) kontrol grubuna gore anlamli derecede yuksek oldugu goruldu. Delta K ve Delta Ca duzeyleri arasinda ise anlamli bir farklilik bulunamadi. Aritmi gelisen ve gelismeyen olgularin elektrolit degerleri arasinda anlamli bir farklilik saptanmadi. Sonuc olarak bu. calismayla efor testi pozitif ve negatif bireylerde test oncesi ve sonrasi serum Kg , K ve Ca duzeylerinde anlamli bir farklilik olmadigi, test pozitif olgularda test sirasinda Mg 'un normal sinirlar icinde ancak test negatif olgulara gore anlamli artis gosterdigi saptandi.
