Development and characterization of Solid State RF amplifier for Heavy Ion Beam Buncher

2019
A RF amplifier is of paramount importance to the successful operation of an ion beam bunching system. Solid state amplifier has lots of advantages over its vacuum tube counterparts, like compactness, reliability and modularity. In this paper we have discussed the development and characterization of a broadband 200W solid state amplifier. It has a power gain of 14 dB and power added efficiency of 60 %. The distortion due to most of the higher order harmonics is found to be less than –50 dBc.
