Sémantika frazeologie a její studium

The sutdy presents the devolopment of phraseology as a linguistic discipline, the position of phraseology in university study programmes of Czech langugage, phraseology in textbooks as well as aims, contents and methods used in seminars for students of Czech langugage. We point out that despite latest developments in the field phaseology is neglected within Czech langugage studies at universities and even more so in basic and secondary school teaching. We focus on difficulties of the students´ understanding of set phrases, semantic descriptions in dictionaries and identification of synonymous and antonymous set phrases. Analysis of dictionary entries reveals misinterpretation, inventig extra (and false) semantic interpretations as well as inability to present all relevant semantic interpretations.
