Local Oscillator for Microwave Radio Link Transceivers

1977
This local oscillator uses a RF transistor generator with a frequency stability of 1% and reduced FM noise. The requested frequency stability of ±10.10-6 is achieved by locking the R.F. generator to a quartz oscillator by means of two sampling mixers and a zero frequency discriminator. The sampling rate is quartz controlled and lies in the range 180+190 MHz: the developped locking network covers the range 3,6+8,5 GHz. No filters and no multiplier (or divider) chains are used. The frequency error of the AFC loop remains within 0,2.10-6. The synchronizing method doesn't impaire frequency modulation characteristics of the RF oscillator.
