Genetic Factors in Alcoholism: Evidence and Implications

In this chapter we review some of the major findings pertaining to genetic factors in alcohol abuse and dependence. First we consider a series of clinical studies which establish that genetic liability can increase risk of alcoholism; then, a series of laboratory studies that investigate the nature of the liability.
