Synergistic action of HPV infection and telomerase-hTERT in cervical cancer

2008
A close relationship has been documented between human papilloma virus(HPV) and cervical cancer.E6 and E7 are the major genes for the carcinogenesis HPV.The E6 oncoprotein can induce the expression of telomerase by activating the transcription of telomerase-hTERT,which plays a key role in cervical epithelioma changes and cervical carcinogenesis after HPV infection. This article reviews the synergistic action of HPV infection and telomerase-hTERT in the development of cervical cancer.
