Distributed Episodic and Analogical Reasoning (DEAR)

2010
Abstract : An AFRL program, Distributed Episodic Exploratory Planning (DEEP), is developing a mixed-initiative decision-support environment where commanders can readily access and leverage historical data from distributed sources for use in decision making. Episodic reasoning paradigms and specific Case Based Reasoning (CBR) technology are being considered as methods to facilitate the use of analogical reasoning and past experience [Ford & Lawton, 2008]. The research conducted in the DEAR (Distributed Episodic Analogical Reasoning) project builds on previous research conducted by Raytheon BBN Technologies Corp. (BBN) for the DEEP project [Mulvehill, Deutsch, & Rager, 2007] and is intended to further influence the design, development and implementation of CBR and analogical reasoning in the AFRL DEEP program.
