Method for operating transfer layer and transfer switch of atm system

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer switch and a transfer layer which are improved like an ATM switch enabling a higher data transmission rate to be executed. SOLUTION: The transfer layer of the ATM system is used between a switch 216 and n-number communication channels 218. The respective communication channels 218 are provided with second storage configurations B 0 ,..., BN -1 for storing the queue of each cell having length to P. One of the secon storage configurations becomes a busy state when the cell of min. M is stored inside and M is equal or smaller than P. The respective communication channels are assigned to one of switch queues. The transfer layer 217 is provided with the third storage configuration T for storing the queue of the cell having length to the cell of L. When the second storage configuration is in the busy state, the transfer layer 217 selectively disables inputting to the third storage configuration of the cell from one of the switch queues.
