Li1+xAlxTi2−x (PO4)3, NASICON-type solid electrolyte fabrication with different methods

2020
Abstract The research on solid electrolytes in lithium ion batteries has gained a significant attention recently. NASICON structured Li1+xAlxTi2−x(PO4)3 (LATP) material is interesting as a promising solid electrolyte for Li-ion batteries, because this type of electrolyte is more stable in the air than other types of solid electrolytes. The paper demonstrates the findings on synthesis of LATP material with two different sol-gel and a molten flux fabrication methods. The ionic conductivity of this type of solid electrolyte is found to be greatly affected by preparation methods. Characterization methods such as X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy assisted in identifying the influence of different phases and grain sizes on ionic conductivity of solid electrolytes manufactured by different methods. Impedance spectroscopy of LATP by three synthesizing methods have demonstrated the ionic conductivity in the range of 10−4 – 10−6 S cm−1 at room temperature.
