La seguridad cooperativa en el hemisferio americano: la necesidad de una estrategia integral regional

Cooperative security is a concept that emerged in the aftermath of World War II (1939-1945) and has been consolidated in international government agendas to maintain peace and governance. Under this concept, cooperation alliances and regional integration processes have been structured that have resulted in regional international treaties, which have consolidated economic, political, and military blocs in favor of the achievement of common objectives. Bearing in mind that the approach to security in the Americas has been a subject of constant discussion and evolution in the multilateral sphere. The objective of this article is to approach from a qualitative perspective with an analytical-reflexive approach and in a descriptive manner what the concept of cooperative security means in the hemispheric case, which aims to establish a constructive view of the importance of seeking an integral strategy in the region. To this end, the points to be addressed are: 1) a conceptual approach to the concept of cooperative security; 2) characterize the experience of cooperative security in the Americas; and 3) determine possible points of strategic interest in the region in favor of strengthening cooperative security in the Americas.
