The objective was evaluate the biomass production, root growth and chemical composition of fractions leaf, stem and root of Brachiaria brizantha cv. MG-5 Victoria, derived from seeds coated or treated with insecticides. Were tested four treatments, SP: pure seeds, SR: coated seeds, SPI: pure seeds treated with insecticide and SRI: coated seeds and treated with insecticide, in four evaluation periods, P15: 0-15 days, P30: 0-30 days, P45: 0-45 days and P60: 0-60 days after germination of the seeds. The methodologies for assessment of biomass production was based on measurements at the beginning and end of each period, of the plant height and at tiller number; followed by cutting the plant and morphological separations of leaf, stem and root. The samples of the fractions separated were chemically analyzed. On average were observed content of DM, CP, NDF and MM for at portion air (leaf and stem) of 20.56, 9.04, 66.61 and 4.32 %, respectively. Until the 60 days after at germination the beneficiation of seeds, through of the coating or of the treatment with insecticide, did not affect significantly the biomass production, the number of tillers, the root growth and at nutritional quality.
