Tratamento ortodôntico cirúrgico da assimetria facial causada por hiperplasia condilar Orthodontic surgical treatment of facial asymmetry caused by condylar hyperplasia

2007
The facial skeletal asymmetry is usually due an unequal growth of the condylar, with a deviation of medium line to the side of smaller growth. Etiology can be congenital or hereditary. Some authors report that the abnormal condylar growth (condylar hyperplasia) can be associated with hyperplasia of cells in the area of growth condylar. Clinically, deformity of the facial skeleton and subsequent open bite unilateral are observed. Based on these data, in this article, the objective is to present a report of a clinical case showing the importance of a precise diagnosis and correct treatment for that craniomandibular alteration.
