On: “Why don’t we measure seismic signatures?” by A. Ziolkowski (GEOPHYSICS, 56, 190–201, February 1991)
1991
In his iconoelastic attack on statistical deconvolution, Ziolkowski left few idols standing. I take no issue with the tenor of his article, but I am uncomfortable with its tone and its extreme view. Certainly, signature deconvolution is underutilized and ought to become a more common practice. However, it is possible to arrive at that conclusion without discarding a number of extremely useful concepts.
