Determination of correction to the standard solar radius

1990
Abstract During the annular solar eclipse of 1987 September 23, Baily beads were observed at two locations on the southern and northern edges of the path. The observations were analysed to identify the features of the lunar profile which gave rise to the beads. They were then reduced to derive corrections to the ecliptic longitude and latitude of the Sun and the standard solar radius. The corrections obtained are: Δr=−0.11“±0.03” , Δ1=+0.57“±0.09” , Δb=+0.02“±0.02” , the errors are mean errors.
