Aim: To investigate contraception methods and cause of legal abortion of the pregnant women who consult family planning clinic in our institution. Material and Methods: In this study, 84 pregnant women who consult family planing clinic between January 2014 and March 2014 were observed. The patients were asked for education levels, working status, number of pregnancies, contraception methods, cause of legal abortion. Results: The patient’s age ranged between 20 and 48 ( mean±SD : 34.18±6.62), parity of the patients was 4.73±2.75, number of children was 4.21±2.26, number of previous curettage was 0.44±0.84. Fourty-nine patient used a contraception method (%58,3). The most used contraception method was coitus interruptus. Conclusion: Low socioeconomic and education level are major causes of unwanted pregnancies. Family planning education should continously be given to these groups.
