Utilization of TCM Injections in Second and Third Class Hospitals of Shanghai Area during the Period of 2007～2008

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the utilization of TCM injections in second and third class hospitals of Shanghai area.METHODS:The utilization of TCM injections in 12 second class hospitals and 14 third class hospitals of Shanghai area during the period of 2007～2008 was analyzed statistically in respect of consumption sum and manufacturers.RESULTS:The consumption sum of TCM injections increased year by year,and the proportion of consumption sum and annual growth rate of TCM injections in second class hospitals were higher than in third class hospitals.The top 20 drugs in the list of consumption sum were mainly cardio-cerebrovascular drugs,and anti-tumor drugs were used more in third class hospitals.The top 15 TCM injections manufacturers in the list of sales volume varied with the variation of their products'competitiveness,and the alternative trend of the manufacturers was much more significant in second class hospitals.CONCLUSION:The consumption sum of TCM injections experiences a fast increase,suggesting its great market demand.The study and evaluation on efficacy and safety of TCM injections should be emphasized,and great importance should be attached to the clinical rational use of TCM injections.
