A multicentre survey of spinal cord monitoring outcome

1994
Somatosensory evoked potential (EP) monitoring has been used for over 20 years to help assure safety of the spinal cord during certain procedures. The technique has grown in popularity during the past 12 years. In some medical communities, the technique has grown to be widely used and well accepted, being used in most procedures in which the spinal cord is at risk for significant damage. Such monitoring has especially been applied to procedures to stabilize and correct scoliosis and similar disorders of the spinal column.
