Surgical treatment of complicated mediastinal tumor

Objective To study various complicated mediastinal tumor surgical methods and summarize their characteristics.Methods Retrospectively analyzed the surgical methods of 20 complicated mediastinal tumors.Results Eight cases giant substernal goiter were treated by collar-thyroid-incision and partial uppermedian sternotomy.Seven cases with superior vena cava surgery for entire resection of the mediastinal tumor.Two cases were treated for the mediastinitis which was caused by the repeated rupture of the mediastinal tumor.Conclusion The surgeries of some complicated mediastinal tumor have the characteristics of high risk and difficulty.The design of the surgery must be done according to their clinical characteristics.
