Saudi Arabia is a country established in 1932 and ruled by Sharia (Religious Law). As in all areas of life, it can be said that religion is the determining factor in the field of education, too. The Education Policy Document which determines the basic terms and principles of the Education can be considered as the most important pillar in this field. In Saudi Arabia, except for nursery school, an education based on gender discrimination is given. Although Basic Education is not compulsory, the enrollment ratio of primary school is 96.5%. 5,274,205 students are having education in the country. 12.7% of these students are having education in private schools. The number of students per class is 21.7 and the number of students per teacher is 10.4. In the country, the language of education is Arabic and the proportion of illiterates is 5.6%. In Saudi Arabia, ¼ of the budget is allotted to education.
