Ambulatory surgery is increasing in numbers, and deployment of resources is extremely important to ensure safe and adequate delivery of anesthesia and pain medicines. Pain management services must be available to these patients in the ambulatory setting in all phases of care. Management of perioperative pain in the ambulatory surgery setting is becoming increasingly complex and requires the employment of a multimodal approach and interventions facilitated by ambulatory surgery pain specialists.
