Integral counting technique of recording small variations in the intensity of a particle flux

1987
The combining the principles of current compensation and counting for recording particle fluxes, a simple and reliable instrument for measuring flux variations with an accuracy better than 10/sup -6/ could be built. This instrument was used to measure P-odd asymmetry produced by weak interaction in the total cross section when a flux of longitudinally polarized thermal neutrons passed through a KBr sample. The asymmetry value (11.2 +/- 0.9) x 10/sup -6/ was obtained from the natural isotope mixture.
