Heat treatment of calibrated ball bearing steel with high-frequency current

1966
1. The proposed method of heat treatment of calibrated ball bearing steel by heating with high-frequency current ensures the properties required by GOST 801-60. 2. We determined the optimum conditions ensuring recrystalization of cold worked steel (rate of motion of the rod through the inductor, 90 mm/sec at 760°C). 3. The greatest loss of strength of the metal as the result of recrystallization occurs when the preliminary deformation is 17–18% and the conditions of operation of the induction equipment are optimum. 4. When the degree of swaging is less than 17%, then heat treatment with high-frequency current is not recommended because recrystallization is not completed in these cases.
