Atenção às pessoas com hanseníase frente a pandemia da covid-19: uma revisão narrativa

2021
Objective: To describe the care provided to people with leprosy in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic through a narrative review. Bibliographic Review: Leprosy is a disease that requires previous treatment, complete and without interruption, thus avoiding deformities and permanent physical disabilities. With the pandemic by COVID-19, there were changes in people's lives to adapt to the new reality experienced worldwide in order to contain the spread of the disease, which will also greatly affect other diseases, including the leprosy elimination strategy. Therefore, to guarantee the treatment of leprosy as well as the discovery of new cases, health services needed to establish adjustments in the professionals' work processes and strategies for patient care. In addition, the Ministry of Health released technical notes to the Federative Units on behaviors to be adopted with leprosy patients. Final considerations: Health professionals should work together, adopting assistance actions so that the elimination of leprosy is not lost by directing resources to COVID-19.
