The radar cross-section of a volleyball in 0.8–18 GHz range

In this paper radar cross-section of a volleyball measured in a 0.8–18 GHz range is presented. First, a calibration technique involving time-domain gating, which allows performing the measurements at a portable setup outside an anechoic chamber is discussed. Second, the radar cross-section of the volleyball is measured and compared to the radar cross-section of a metallic sphere to draw the conclusions on the origin of specific features of the measured spectrum.
