Modeling wireless sensor network coverage based on random radius

2011
Optimization of network coverage is one of the hot issues of the research on wireless sensor network. The current discussion is generally based on the case of fixed node radius. Particle Swarm Optimization is a classical algorithm to control coverage rate. In this paper, a modified algorithm (D-PSO) is proposed to dynamically regulate node density. The improved algorithm can avoid premature saturation and energy waste, and it is suitable for more general networks. By the improved algorithm, if radius ranges from 15m to 20m, simulation shows that the coverage rate is greater than 96%.
