2019
In this work, we present the results related to the analysis of 99 academic journals in Panama. The analysis is focused mainly of 37 scientific journals that are in digital format and online platforms. This analysis is quantitative and descriptive, which is of different bibliometric indicators that use extracted data from Googles Scholar such as, citations, number of publications and index in order to create a comparative table of local journals. The work also presents some information about the integration in databases of the magazines, basic elements such as ISSN, use of online platforms identifying the limited scope and visibility of the Panamanian magazines. A comparative analysis of local journals is made with university of Costa Rican magazines, showing how distant our university is in productivity and impact of the publications in constrat our Costa Rican colleague. The results are intended to be a diagnosis of the journals of our universities, as well as to identify the failures to work on improving the visibility, quality, scope, and impact of our journals at national and international level.
