Principles of data processing

The data processing system at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science uses remote visual display terminals situated in the laboratories to connect the laboratories to the computer. The computer is used to prepare work lists, calculate results from raw data, interpret results and print final reports. Many new techniques have been introduced to minimize data input, detect transcription errors, and improve the information content of the reports.
