Analysis of the Drugs for the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Chengdu Area During the Period 2001～2003

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the present status and the trend of the drugs for releasing the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis(DMARD)in the hospitals in Chengdu area and make an objective evaluation,in order to give some references for production, management and sales,application and government departments.METHODS:Sum of money of consumption,DDDs and treatment costs of DMARD in the hospitals in Chengdu area during the period 2001～2003 were made a statistical analysis.RESULTS:During the 3 years,more than 10 varieties and specifications of DMARD were used in the clinic. The total costs were 2 907.39 million yuan,the mean annual growth rate was 11.6%; the mean growth rate of DDDs was 40.8%;the total selling expenses of production enterprises ranking in the first 10 places in selling constituted 90% of the total selling expenses; the mean annual growth rate of foreign companies was 9.7%,the mean annual growth rate of national companies was 17.0%.CONCLUSION:Selling expenses and DDDs increase steadily with years.The expenses of chemical drugs are great.DDDs of Chinese patent medicine is high.So exploitation and application of domestically produced drugs should be advocated in order to meet the needs of the patients.
