EEG and Semiology in Focal Epilepsy

2017
The majority of seizures could be divided into generalized or focal (also known as partial) seizures based on ictal EEG onset. Generalized seizures, as the name implies, appear to have a bilateral onset on the EEG since the seizure discharge is believed to rapidly involve bilateral networks. In contrast, focal seizures arise within networks limited to one hemisphere.
