LNGC-Iceberg Collision Response Analysis using FSI Analysis Technique

To ensure a reasonable and reliable safety assessment of Cargo Containment System (CCS), its criteria should be established with consideration of the shock failure characteristics of its components under impact loadings from iceberg collisions, and accurate and correct predictions of impact loadings should be also made on the inner hull under iceberg collision. In this study, full scale collision simulation was carried out to estimate a more reliable and realistic collision impact response, using Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) analysis technique of LS-DYNA code, and current force to iceberg instead of current velocity. DEFORMABLE_TO_RIGID option was used for the save of computational time before colliding of iceberg to LNGC in FSI analysis‘?
