We thank Silvestri et al. for their interest in our study,1 and for the observation that oropharyngeal-esophageal scintigraphy frequently shows delayed esophageal transit in myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1).2 We agree that tongue weakness is a common finding in patients with DM1.
