Method for fault management of devices in home network system

PURPOSE: A device failure managing method in a home network system is provided to allow an failure manager installed at a central communication network managing center to comprehensively manage failure management information on a plurality of devices connected by a network by rendering an failure managing agent to collect present and past history failure information through an failure managing FCM installed in each device and provide it to the failure manager. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of devices(100) are various digital audio and video equipments such as a DVD(Digital Versatile Disk) player, a DTV(Digital TV) and so on which are connected through a network(200). Each device(100) includes a messaging system(110) of an IEEE1394 interface standard, a system software element(120), an FCM(Functional Component Module)(130) and an application(140), an HAVi(Home Audio/Video interoperability) operation program. The devices(100) also include a failure managing FCM(150) and connected to a failure managing agent(300) by the network(200). A central communication network managing center includes a failure manager(400). When the failure managing agent(300) requests failure management information through the network(200), the failure managing FCM(150) obtains failure management information from the plural FCMs(130) and provides it to the failure managing agent(300) through the network(200). The failure managing agent(300) and the failure manager(400) are connected through a TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) of an Internet network.
