Validación de una escala breve de individualismo-colectivismo

2020
The individualism-collectivism cultural syndrome has been widely employed in psychology for comparing human values, which can be centered on oneself or on others. It has been suggested that there are many different types of individualism and collectivism, reason for which the axes of verticality and horizontality are added as the main nuances that make this syndrome vary from culture to culture. The object of this study was to validate the individualism-collectivism scale developed by Triandis and Gelfand (1998) with their respective horizontality and verticality axes. The instrument has proven useful in other cultural contexts, the reason that its adaptation to the Mexican people is useful for comparison against results obtained in other regions. Moreover, the instrument’s brevity is an advantage. Results show that the scale has adequate construct, reliability and relevance indicators as it allows for transcultural comparisons.
