A scientific school is traditionally understood as a scientific community that has common views and ideas formed under the influence of a leader. The Institute of Automation and Control Processes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has developed and has been developing dynamically for many years the only Scientific School of Laser Physics in the Far Eastern Federal District. This article covers the main stages of the formation of a scientific school. A number of examples illustrate the scientific novelty and significance of the research carried out by the scientific school team.
