The utility model discloses a self-supporting rectangular converging-diverging tube bundle heat exchanger. The heat exchanger includes a cylinder, a rectangular converging-diverging tube bundle arranged in the cylinder, tube plates arranged at two ends of the rectangular converging-diverging tube bundle, an upper seal head and a lower seal head connected with the tube plates, an inlet and outlet interface of heat exchanger tube pass, and an inlet and outlet interface of heat exchanger shell pass. The inlet and outlet interface of the heat exchanger tube pass is connected with the upper and the lower seal heads; the inlet and outlet interface of the heat exchanger shell pass is connected with the cylinder; the rectangular converging-diverging tube bundle includes a plurality of self-supporting rectangular converging-diverging tubes which are parallel to one another and arranged in the axial direction of the cylinder; whirl plates are arranged at regular intervals in the axial direction of the cylinder and on grooves between every two adjacent self-supporting rectangular converging-diverging tubes, and serve as inter-tube supporting objects of the rectangular converging-diverging tube bundle. The heat exchanger depends on the disturbance to fluid, which is caused by rough converging-diverging rib surfaces of the rectangular converging-diverging tubes, as well as the spiral flow and free swirl flow of the whirl plates, enables the flowing speed and the turbulivity of the fluid on the heat-transfer boundary layer to be improved, and efficiently enhances the convection heat transfer of fluid; and the heat exchanger can be popularized in the heat exchange of industrial gas.
