A Fractal Dimension Calculation Method of Internet Rumor for Recognition

Based on the fractal theory, the fractal dimension calculation model of Internet rumor is built to explore the characteristics and rules of Internet rumor propagation. This paper takes health rumors as an example, selects typical Internet rumors in recent three years, classifies rumors according to Internet influence, and explores the relationship between fractal dimension and influence of Internet rumors. The results show that there is self-similarity between a class of rumors and has fractal features. The more widespread and influential a rumor is, the greater its fractal dimension will be, which provides a new research idea for the control and governance of Internet rumor propagation.
