Comparison of Safety and Tolerance of Gd-BOPTA with Gd-DTPA in Contrast-Enhanced MR Imaging of Liver

2003
Objective To compare the safety and tolerance of Gd-BOPTA with Gd-DTPA in contrast-enhanced MR imaging. Methods Forty-two cases suspected of preliminary liver tumor or hepatic metastases by US or CT were studied by pre- and post-contrast MRI.Pre-contrast images were acquired firstly, then either Gd-BOPTA or Gd-DTPA was intravenous injected at the same dose of 0.1 mmol/kg.Dynamic and delayed images after injection were obtained.Physical examinations, vital signs, and laboratory tests were acquired 7 days before and 24 hours after injection, respectively. The results were analyzed statistically. Results No patients has any uncomfortable reaction in this study, and the results of blood and urine tests of all the cases did not have any significant difference. Conclusion Both Gd-BOPTA and Gd-DTPA were well safe and tolerated in contrast-enhanced MR imaging of liver.
