Process for treating an obstructed porous medium

The present invention relates to a method of treating an obstructed porous medium. The method of the invention comprises contacting an obstructed porous medium during filtration of a protein-containing fluid with an aqueous citrate solution. The invention is particularly applicable to porous media, such as microporous membranes, clogged with natural fluids containing proteins, such as milk, beer and wine.
