Simple method to find the optimum operating point of an integrated laser modulator for propagation over a standard dispersive fibre

A simple and reliable experimentally confirmed way is given to find the optimum operating point and thus the highest achievable distance with an integrated laser electro-absorption modulator. The optimisation point variation versus the span length is also shown.
